EU funding for a safer and more sustainable arrangement of the Ljubljanska ulica Street in Maribor

SLOVENIA, September 8 - As part of the project, an approximately 805-meter-long section of the Ljubljanska ulica Street from the roundabout on the Ulica Pariške Komune Street to the intersection with the Cesta Proletarskih Brigad Street will undergo comprehensive reconstruction. The traffic lanes will be narrowed, the speed limit will be set at 30 kilometres per hour, and safe areas for pedestrians and cyclists will be created on both sides of the street.

Plans also include the creation of a traffic-calmed zone, intersections with non-priority access roads, and bus stops on the roadway. Stations for the MBajk public bike-sharing system and carsharing will be installed, and a tree-lined avenue with green spaces will be created on both sides of the street. The project also includes new street lighting and storm drainage, as well as the relocation and construction of utility lines.

The project, worth €3,057,909.45, will be implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme and will receive €1,740,493.73 from the European Regional Development Fund. The beneficiary of the funding is the Urban Municipality of Maribor.
