EU funding for nature conservation at Lake Cerknica, in the Javorniki Mountains, on the Planinsko polje Plateau and along the Nanoščica River
SLOVENIA, August 17 - In the coming years, the REVITA 2 project (Restoration and establishment of habitat types and improvement of habitats for selected species), which is listed as a project of national importance, will be carried out in the areas of Lake Cerknica, the Javorniki Mountains, the Planinsko polje Plateau and Nanoščica. The planned activities will strengthen the conservation of natural heritage and biodiversity in one of Slovenia’s most valuable areas for nature conservation.
As part of the project, numerous measures will be implemented focusing on nature conservation, environmental monitoring, public awareness and cooperation with local stakeholders. This comprehensive approach will ensure lasting positive effects on natural habitats and species populations that are an important part of the European Natura 2000 network. The project will make a significant contribution to the implementation of the Natura 2000 Site Management Programme and to fulfilling obligations under European nature conservation legislation.
The REVITA 2 project will strengthen efforts to preserve the natural heritage of the Notranjska region, while also creating conditions for the sustainable coexistence of people and nature for future generations.
The project is implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021–2027 and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
With a total value of €3,470,306.35, the project will receive €2,895,920.36 from the European Regional Development Fund. The beneficiaries of the funding are the Notranjska Regional Park and the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation.
